Garmin eTrex 22X 32X - How To Plan A Route

In this video, I'll show you how to plan a route on your Garmin eTrex 22X or 32X. A route is a series of points that you create either a path or circuit. For this video, I'm in a new city and I want to plan a walking route close to the hotel. I'll create a route and adjust the navigation options so that the route follows the path since the pre-loaded map on the eTrex 22X has turn by turn navigation, as opposed to the off road navigation where you have straight line between each line segment. 1. Got to ROUTE PLANNER 2. CREATE NEW ROUTE 3. Choose how to add waypoints, you have several options; choose points on the map, saved waypoints, geocoded images, etc... Here we will pick several point on the map to make our walking loop. Once you plan out your route, hit BACK to save the route. From the route planner, you can edit routes, view the route on the map, view elevation plot, edit the name of the route, reverse the route or delete the route. Next, we need to adjust the routing so that we are following the path as opposed to straight line segment. I'm doing this since I'm in a urban environment, but won't work in you are hiking in a wilderness area with no defined trail on the map. 4.
