In this episode: actor Ewen Bremner. Anna and Paul Nugent, Co-Artistic Directors of AboutFACE Theatre in Dublin, Ireland, pose 5 questions to leading figures in theatre. Ewen Bremner is an actor who has worked extensively in theatre, his credits including God of Hell (Donmar Warehouse), Damascus (Traverse), Trainspotting (Bush Theatre), The Present (Bush Theatre), Gormenghast (Lyric Hammersmith) and The Conquest of the South Pole (Traverse/Royal Court). Ewen won the BAFTA Scotland Best Actor award for his performance in Trainspotting 2. His many other credits include Wonder Woman, Trainspotting, Snowpiercer, and Black Hawk Down. Ewen has worked with many of the most respected directors in world cinema, including Mike Leigh, Ridley Scott, Bong Joon-ho, Woody Allen and Werner Herzog. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he left school at 16 and began working widely in theatre, television and film for many years before being cast in his breakout role in Trainspotting (1996), helmed by Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, having originated the role of Mark Renton in Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre production. Prior to Trainspotting, Bremner gave a striking performance in Mike Leigh’s Naked, starring opposite David Thewlis. Ewen’s other credits include Pearl Harbor, Jack The Giant Slayer, Match Point, You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, Snatch, Perfect Sense, Worriker Trilogy, Great Expectations, Death at a Funeral, Alien vs. Predator, and TNT’s punk rock Shakespeare drama, Will.
