The Gallery exhibits a sizable collection of objects from the southern region of Africa, including rich dark Zulu beer pots and wooden stools from South Africa, as well as handsome Lozi clay vessels and wooden relish bowls from Zambia. These works represent a tradition that is fast diminishing as Western influences make their way into traditional African regions. The clay forms are made from a coiling method and are then burnished and pit fired. All the works are contemporary, ranging from forty to one hundred years old. Both functional and beautiful, the dignity and integrity of these works is admired by scholars and collectors alike.
