Today I walked around Christiansted to get a feel for the real St. Croix. Christiansted is the largest town on Saint Croix, one of the main islands composing the US Virgin Islands. The community of Christiansted was founded on the site of the older French settlement os Bassin in 1734. This was a thriving port in the 18th century driven by the sugar industry. I walked around enjoying the old architecture and soaked in the ambiance of this very interesting town on St Croix.
