Today’s story, “Centenary”, is taken from the forty-second and final “Railway Series” book, “Thomas and his Friends”, written by Christopher Awdry (son of his reverence Wilbert Awdry aka “The Thin Clergyman”), and illustrated by Clive Spong. This story, and the other three stories in the “Thomas and his Friends” book, are a special ensemble narration. George Brind is the main reader, with special guest stars reading in for certain other significant characters: Thomas Brind as The Fat Controller Edward Brind as Gordon the Big Engine Tracy Brooker as Percy the Small Engine Thomas Puttock as Thomas’s Driver and Henry the Green Engine The engines are preparing for The Thin Clergyman’s 100th birthday celebration, and James is chosen to collect a special bust of Clergyman from the Mainland. Despite collecting the bust safely and going through Henry’s tunnel, the Island of Sodor is cut off from the Mainland as Henry’s tunnel collapses. Will the engines be able to repair the damage before the centenary celebration, or will this important occasion be completely ruined? Adapted from the famous “Railway Series” written from 1945 – 2011 by his reverence, Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, “Sodor Railway Tales” tells the exciting stories of some anthropomorphic engines on the Island of Sodor.
