COMPOSER: "There has never been a better time to be an Artist" | Samuel Andreyev

"No more tragedies, no more isolation. What I desperately want is to pull things together, to invite everyone in, to share things in a collective celebration." Beauty is where love and truth meet. Artists make that manifest. At this conference, we were promoting responsible citizenship. While that, of course, cuts through the political, economic, and social spheres, we also profoundly recognise that the heart and soul of culture is its Art. And so we wanted to share with you Samuel Andreyev's perspective on the role of art and music in culture. Samuel Andreyev is a composer, music educator, podcaster, and public speaker. His works have been performed, recorded, and broadcast worldwide. He was born in Canada and lives in France. His most recent disc, In Glow of Like Seclusion, has just been released by Divine Art (UK). In this talk, he encourages artists to put their work out there into the world, be courageous, and see if it survives. He believes that the purpose of creativity is to engender a dialogue between past, present, and future that nourishes and irrigates our culture, keeping it supple, vital, and mobile. Artists have access to resources that the artists of the past could never have dreamed of, and he believes that the responsibility of artists today lies in marshalling these extraordinary resources in the service of courageous and bold creative exploration.
