Chapters (shortcuts) at the bottom of this video description: Here's a demo for a client who wanted their Hohner Thunderbird in Low C customized as well with full access to overblows and overdraws that are bendable (where possible) for chromaticism, with the priority being from holes 6 through 10. They also wanted the 7 draw to be lowered down a 1/2 step (Parrott tuning). The 1 blow reed was damaged but I was able to straighten and re-profile the reed so no replacement was needed. Heavy custom reed work, correcting of all components, lots of play testing, and a nice flat comb (like the one Todd Parrott makes) resulted in what I refer to as a 'well balanced instrument'. So often you hear that can't play diatonics set up to play chromatically fairly hard or with any dynamic range. That's not the case here and with others that are set up well in a balanced way. Well balanced harmonicas in the normal range of keys give you bends and overbends (OBs and ODs) that are nearly effortless without sacrifice. The lower notes on these lower harmonicas around Low Eb and lower tend to become slower to respond and harder to intonate lower overblows due to the pitch range, resonance needed, and (probably) reed design. Around the keys of Low C# is where I feel that it takes significantly more effort for me to sustain the 1 hole draw bend or sustain the 4 and 5 hole overblows. That said, it's totally possible to utilize all of these bends and overbends in melodies and licks on a Low C.
