Aafaq Ahmed on Altaf Hussain, MQM Pakistan & 1992 Operation | Exclusive Political Interview

Chairman of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-Haqiqi), Afaq Ahmed, has said that Altaf Hussain is still a powerful figure, but due to his unstable temperament, he is currently unable to make the right decisions. In an exclusive interview with host Faheem Siddiqui, he challenged MQM-Pakistan, saying that if free and fair elections are held in the country, they would not be able to defeat his party. He alleged that MQM is backed by the establishment and that the conflict between MQM and the Pakistan Peoples Party is merely a staged political drama. Commenting on Nasreen Jalil’s recent statement, Afaq Ahmed said that people like her are responsible for bringing Altaf Hussain to his current state. He also prayed for Altaf Hussain’s health and condemned the treatment being meted out to Imran Khan, demanding that he be provided with complete medical facilities. In this exclusive interview, Afaq Ahmed also described the 1992 military operation as politically damaging for him. He stated that he had no connection with the military operation and that it was merely a coincidence that both the operation and his entry into the city happened on June 19, which caused him severe political damage.
