SHOOTING A SNIPER IN KYIV | TRAVELLING BELARUS, MOLDOVA AND UKRAINE | THE SANDERSON'S LIST | FAMILY

We were planning our road trip when we decided to jet off to Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus to kickstart visiting some countries that were the furthest east of Europe so that we could get to the sunnier countries as fast as possible for summer. We found Minsk beautiful, it has this novel romance about the area with the cobbled paths and street lighting. Somewhere we were quite nervous over going, but, for a quiet, romantic city getaway we couldn’t recommend it enough. Not the best place for families as we found there wasn’t a lot to entertain a 2-year-old but for couples, 100%. Chisinau was pretty boring. Not much to do or see, but, from doing our research prior trying to build an itinerary we had foreseen this and we were only there for 2 days. The biggest surprise here was the incredible Japanese food. If you are a sushi lover you will be in awe! Kyiv... what beautiful architecture! It was colourful and had those old fashioned trams I love... truly charming! The cathedrals were stunning and the food was mind-blowing. I don’t think we had a bad meal there, actually. Kyiv had your typical capital city arrogance among the people but that can only be expected and you get everywhere. The highlight of the trip was definitely going shooting. I have never shot a gun before so for the first time to be stuff like a sniper and shotgun. We also had a competition and turns out I (Katie) am pretty good and beat everyone there. Minsk Travel Must Do’s 1. See the circus in Minsk 2. Are the girls as beautiful as they say - yes. 3. Try traditional Belarusian food Chisinau Travel Must Do’s 1. Walk around Valea Morilor Park (try run up those stairs) 2. Triumphal Arch Chișinău Kyiv Travel Must Do’s 1. Shoot a gun (sniper, AK47 & shotgun) - Bucket LIST 2. See the domes of St Andrews church 3. Walk down Andriivs'kyi descent 4. Eat Ukrainian cuisine from Kanapa (I ate a thyroid gland from a neck :| )
