A CANLOAN Officer in Normandy - Part 2: Rex's Journey from GOLD beach to Operation CHARNWOOD

As part of our research and publication of 'A CANLOAN Officer' by Rex Fendick, we visited Normandy in June 2022 to find some of the locations where Rex had fought as a Vickers machine gun platoon commander with the 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment in 3rd Division. Rex was a Canadian officer serving in the British Army as part of the CANLOAN scheme so many of his perspectives are quite different, as his experiences as a machine gun platoon commander are largely unique. This second video covers Rex's journey from his arrival in Normandy on 15th June as a reinforcement officer through to his action during Operation CHARNWOOD outside Caen on 9th July 1944.
