War & Torture (2015) | Red Room Collection

This is the first entry in my series of experimental self-expression films I started when I was 15, The Red Room Collection. I made this video with my friend in arts class in the span of one day, and it was a lot of fun to work with claymation for the first time! I've been wanting to try it again with more time and effort behind it, hopefully I will someday. Every Red Room Collection film means something very personal to me, but War & Torture are kind of the exception to this haha. It was the first time I did something other than a comedic sketch, but rather than take from my own personal experiences it's just about "war bad", there is very little of myself in this film. As I share the rest of the films in this collection you will notice how much of a fraud young Chris is lmao, I often shamelessly took from other artists I liked, and here I've obviously been playing some Lisa and watching some David Firth. The reason why I still really like the idea of releasing these films under the same banner so many years later is that I think you can see a progression throughout them, it's my journey of slowly finding my own voice.
