On Wednesday, a 13-year-old killed eight fellow students and a guard at school in central Belgrade before being arrested. The commemoration was organized by 'Miredita, Dobar dan' festival – meaning Good Day in Albanian and Serbian - an annual event which brings together artists, academics, and activists from Kosovo and Serbia since 2014. Participants first held a minute of silence at the beginning of the festival and then lit candles outside the national theatre building. “We wanted to express through this act of solidarity our unity - and that even in these difficult times, we can find new ways to actually do something together”, said Sofia Todorevic, Serbian activist and festival participant. 'Miredita, Dobar dan’ festival will also be held in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, next month. Mass shootings are extremely rare in the Balkan region, although Serbia is awash in guns left over from the wars of the 1990s. No mass shootings have been reported at Serbian schools in recent years. =========================================================== Clients are reminded to adhere to all listed restrictions and to check the terms of their licence agreements.
