As we plane, train, and automobile (well, not plane, it's wartime here, after all...) along the highways and byways, through the nooks and crannies of the Ukrainian Carpathians, sometimes we decide to head to a place on a whim. What about Kvasy? It's a village on the slow-and-creaky train line, the train that consists of two cars with wooden benches and a toilet about which the less said the better - and that's all we know. So we go, without even bothering to book a hotel first. After all, it's a Carpathian village, which means it's a guaranteed good rest amidst magnificent scenery at the very least... Mighty surprised we were, gentle viewers, at finding a village so small and remote yet with so many things to see and do: a sanatorium (good for arthritis and other bone and muscle troubles), a fancy restaurant, a craft brewery, a cheese factory/goat farm/pizza joint, and a hill covered with hundreds of sheep with their little tinkling sheep bells.
