What's up everybody! Check out this quick video review of Minolta ROKKOR-X 50mm f1.7 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! The lens came attached to a film camera and I paid $10 for the pair. I made a hands on video with this lens a little while back, but this lens is very popular, and deserves a proper review. The lens was made in Japan and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. It's stylized very similar to other Minolta ROKKOR-X lenses with a gold "ROKKOR-X", and white/green color focus/aperture indicators. The lens is light weight, weighing in at 5.8 ounces and stands 1.5 inches tall. Focusing is smooth and will take you a half rotation to go from infinity to a minimum focusing distance of 1.5 fmeet (0.45m). The aperture starts at f16 and opens up to a bright f1.7. Six aperture blades produce hexagon shaped bokeh, and the lens has a 49mm filter thread for attaching screw on lens hoods and filters. I'm adapting the lens using a K&F Concept Adapter I bought from Amazon for about $15 (see link below). The adapter is the magical piece of metal that allows us to use these old lenses on our new cameras. In this case I'm using an adapter that converts the Minolta MD Mount to the Sony NEX/E-Mount, it's labeled (MD-NEX). Adapting MD mounted lenses is straight forward, just line up the dots and turn. The ROKKOR-X is a nice lightweight match for the a6000, and feels very comfortable in the hand and around the neck. Once we have everything adapted, it's time to run out and get some sample shots. There are so many reason to like these old lenses. Not only do they make your camera look super cool, but they can be an excellent way to acquire quality glass at a bargain price:) Lens Summary: Brand: Minolta Mount: MD Country Made: Japan Construction: Metal/Plastic Weight: 5.8 ounces Length: 1.5 inches Filter Size: 49mm Aperture Range: f/1.4-f/16 Number of aperture blades: 6 Bokeh Shape: hexagon Focal Range: Fixed 50mm Minimum Focus Distance: 1.5 ft/.45 meters Focal throw: 1/2 rotation Cost: ~$20-$60 online at the time of this video adapter link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LECYONM/ If you liked this video and hit the like button, if you want to see more like it go ahead and subscribe, and I always like hearing your comments so leave a comment down below.
