November, 2025 ~November in Superior Country, Ontario, Canada The transition months are never fun to deal with on the north shore. From the rain & snow mix before freeze up, the muddy mess and not to mention the shock to the system and finger tips being outside. Clear skies give way to clouds and wind then boom we are into December and the onslaught of winter. One positive is we are less than a month of these short days as we approach the new year. Starting in Marathon we see some eastbound traffic with CPKC's propane train followed by an intermodal complete with a CN leader. You will see a variety of action from CN & CPKC on the main line and VIA Rail Canada's eastbound Canadian. While in Thunder Bay mid month we see some yard jobs using DMIR 403 and CN 3115 painted in British Columbia Railway heritage paint. One thing this fall is CPKC switching their operations. Eastbound intermodal traffic is now combined onto three trains at Calgary pushing them over 14,000ft in length. Watch for aerial views, changing conditions, and listen for the radio chatter!
