Rachel presents on the unique experience of mentoring the next generation. She muses: "It's often said that grandchildren are even more fun than having your own kids! I don't know where I stand on that, but I will say that it's a humbling and entertaining experience to get to know and influence these valiant souls who were born for such a time as this." In the next few years, families will tend more toward tribal-type culture, where extended loved ones have a more active role in supporting and mentoring the children than in the past couple of generations. In this workshop, Rachel takes on several scenarios: What to do when your active input is not welcome What to do when it’s asked for What to do when it’s needed What to do when you’ve got full-charge of homeschooling and/or raising the grandkids Mentioned in the video: YSS [https://tjed.org/product/YSS] Granny's Closet for kids Granny's Closet for moms Ask what's needed Gifts of artwork and music and coffee table books Connect them with ethnic, religious and family heritage Connect them with your generational stories Share letters Go on dates Your role as an elder in the tribe: Check out the Grandparenting content in FreedomShift [https://tjed.org/product/freedomshift] Do the Grandparenting 6-Month Inventory to make Granny Checklists (what do you have to share? What plans to do it?) -- Mission -- History -- Vision -- Testimony -- Blessing -- Warning -- Counsel -- Let go of -- Bring forward -- Heal Job 1: Upholding parents Job 2: Healing generations Don't look at your role as trying to educate them, but rather to build and inspire them. You are level apart from the parenting role, but still with a powerful stewardship. Connect them with the past and circle around to the future. Prayer!
