The Ring Rail Line is a set of two lines that provide direct connection between Central Helsinki Railway Station and Helsinki – Vantaa Airport and its adjacent Aviapolis stop. This fills the gap between Vantaankoski and Tikkurila railway stations. The Ring Rail is 18 km (11 mi) long. Construction began in 2009 with the 300m tunnel built in 2010. The Ring Rail Line began service on 1 July 2015 and can operate at speeds of up to 120 km/h (75 mph), especially in the tunnel that connects Airport and Aviapolis stations. The I train runs counterclockwise while the P train runs clockwise. The Ring Rail Line tracks are the only tracks that use the left hand side in Helsinki, just like England, instead of the normal right hand side that other systems in Helsinki and most other places use. The Ring Rail Line uses 1-2 JKOY Class Sm5 per train depending on time of day and both lines operate every 10 minutes during the daytime. Taken in July 2022
