March 11, 2011 marked 10 years since the unprecedented triple disaster: Great East Japan Earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. This disaster and the years of recovery work that followed have taught the global community invaluable lessons in the resilience and humanity of the people of Japan. The Radiation and Health Programme of the World Health Organization (WHO) has established strong cooperation with WHO Collaborating Centres (CC) in Japan, including the Radiation Effects Research Foundation in Hiroshima, Nagasaki University, the National Institutes of Quantum and Radiological Sciences (QST) in Chiba, and most recently - Fukushima Medical University. These CCs and other institutions - members of the WHO REMPAN network - conduct research and recovery activities in Fukushima and share their results with the global expert community, which is extremely important for better planning for future emergencies response and for strengthening global preparedness to nuclear emergencies. This webinar was dedicated to their tireless efforts and gives you a glimpse into the enormous amount of work our colleagues are leading in the areas affected by the Fukushima disaster. Moderator: Dr Zhanat Carr (WHO) The program and speakers profiles are available at: https://www.who.int/news-room/events/...
