https://www.sullivancadillac.com/ - Electronic Precision Shift. Electronic Precision Shift in the Cadillac XT5 replaces the traditional mechanical shifter and is designed to make driving easier. This feature allows you to go from Park to Drive in one quick motion for a sportier driving experience. The yellow dot represents the center position which is the handle’s default placement. The Neutral and Reverse gears are located in front of the center position; Drive and Manual are located behind it. The Park button is at the top of the handle and must be pressed to be engaged. The Interlock button is located on the side of the handle and must be pressed to shift to most gears. When you enter the vehicle and wish to shift into Drive, place your foot on the brake pedal, press and hold to the Interlock button on the side of the shifter, move the handle to D and release the shifter when the D turns red. The shifter will automatically return to the center position, ready for the next selection. When shifting from Park to Reverse place your foot on the brake pedal, press and hold the Interlock button on the side of the shift handle and move the shifter up and to the left until the R turns red on the shifter or R is displayed in the cluster. Once you release the shifter the vehicle will stay in reverse but the shifter will again return to the center position. To shift out of Reverse, stop the vehicle and move the handle to the desired gear. For a more engaging driving experience, you can activate Manual mode which allows you to select a higher or lower gear. While in Drive, pull the shifter backward to shift to M. Now you can use the Steering Wheel Paddle Shifters to tap up or tap down through the gears. To return to Drive mode pull the shifter backward again and release. Shifting into Neutral is similar to other gears. Simply put your foot on the brake, press the Interlock button and move the shifter to N. Release the shifter when the N turns red. There are times when the transmission may need to be in Neutral while the engine is running and the driver is outside of the vehicle, such as when getting a full service car wash. To do this, press your foot on the brake, open the door and while the door is open press and hold the Interlock button, then shift to Neutral making sure the N turns red before exiting.
