Some Muslims believe that a woman should not speak aloud in public. Many believe this is based on a hadith that a woman's voice is part of what she should keep private only to be revealed to her family and other women or children. This often leads to Muslim women being asked to put questions in writing rather than asking them aloud at public events. This video explores whether this is based on any clear statement from the Qur'an or collections of authentic hadith. It also explores whether there is any evidence to the contrary.
