Welcome to my walking tour of Kotor, Montenegro! Our tour begins in the heart of Kotor at one of its most famous landmarks, the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon. This Roman Catholic cathedral, built in 1166, stands as a testament to Kotor’s medieval heritage, with its twin towers and intricate Romanesque architecture. Inside, you’ll find stunning frescoes and a collection of sacred relics, including those of Saint Tryphon, the city’s patron saint. Next, we walk through the narrow, winding streets of Kotor’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we meander through this charming maze of stone buildings and squares, we arrive at St. Luke’s Church, a small, 12th-century church that’s remarkable for its dual religious history—having served both Catholic and Orthodox communities. Nearby, you’ll also find St. Nicholas' Church, an impressive Orthodox church with its striking black domes and vibrant frescoes. Our journey continues as we make our way to the bustling Square of Arms, the main square of Kotor, surrounded by historic buildings such as the Clock Tower and Palace of the Rector. Here, you can soak in the lively atmosphere, with cafes and shops filling the square, offering a perfect spot to pause and enjoy a coffee. From there, we head towards Maritime Museum, housed in a Baroque palace, where we explore Kotor’s rich maritime history and its role as a vital port city over the centuries. The museum showcases fascinating exhibits of ship models, navigational tools, and artifacts that tell the story of the seafaring tradition that shaped Kotor’s identity. As we near the end of our tour, we ascend to the Church of Our Lady of Remedy, perched above the town on the slopes of Mount Lovćen. We descend back to the waterfront, concluding our journey at the bay of Kotor! This walking tour was filmed in August 2024 #Kotor #Montenegro #WalkingTour #fjord #travel #Balkans #4k #travelvlog
