笠置寺（かさぎでら）は、京都府南部の笠置山（289m）にあるお寺です。 山頂付近の巨石群は、不可思議な雰囲気が漂い、2000年前から信仰の対象となり修行場が開かれたことに納得できます。 14世紀には、後醍醐天皇と幕府方との戦乱（元弘の乱）の舞台となり、全山焼亡の際、巨石に刻まれたご本尊「弥勒磨崖仏（みろくまがいぶつ）」のお姿が消えたと言われています。 現在は散策が可能ですが、境内は岩場や起伏の激しい道が続きますので、動きやすい服装（靴は運動靴など）で行かれることをおすすめします。 なお、お寺は山上付近にあり、登り道は結構狭いですが、山門近くに有料駐車場があります。 健脚の方ならＪＲ笠置駅から1時間ほどで歩いて登ることもできます。 特に、11月には、早朝に雲海、その後に紅葉を楽しむことができ、秋にはイチオシのお寺です。 The mountain where the dragon lives (Kasagi-dera temple, Kyoto Prefecture) Kasagi-dera Temple is a temple located on Mt.
