I'm guessing this is from the 1920s or so. You see old zithers come up for sale on eBay all the time and they're often very affordable, since few people play these them now. Yes, the tuning pegs are a bit bent and it's missing a string and there are little cracks and crackles. If they weren't, it probably would have been too expensive for me, so I'm not complaining. Gas is so expensive that for Christmas and my birthday, I got musical instruments rather than travel. On the left side are five chords, each with one fat string and three normal strings. On the right should be 21 (though I'm missing one), and there's a sliding panel above them with 21 push pins, each corresponding to one string. When you push a button, the pin drops down next to its dedicated string, then you slide the whole panel back and forth. I have no prior experience with anything like this, so I suggest looking up those who have experience playing such instruments, but there are so few videos of old zithers actually being played that I wanted to give some idea what the instrument is like. Since I was holding the phone with one hand, I used one hand to play one side or the other at once, but a skilled, experienced player could play the two sides of the instrument with both hands at the same time, while maybe balancing their phone camera on their head or something.
