Mit der Ausstellung Poesie des Lichts feiert das Museum Frieder Burda einen der großen Pioniere des Abstrakten Expressionismus: den Maler, Bildhauer und Fotografen Richard Pousette-Dart (1916–1992). Rund 140 Arbeiten aus sechs Schaffensjahrzehnten geben einen opulenten Überblick über das facettenreiche Werk eines der bedeutendsten Künstler der US-amerikanischen Nachkriegsmoderne. Die Werkschau Poesie des Lichts ist eine Kooperation mit der Richard Pousette-Dart Foundation in New York und die bislang umfangreichste Ausstellung, die diesem bedeutenden Künstler der amerikanischen Nachkriegszeit außerhalb der USA zuteilwird. Ergänzt wird der Fokus auf Malerei durch eine sorgfältig kuratierte Auswahl an Skulpturen, Objekten, Zeichnungen und Fotografien. Zu den zahlreichen Highlights der Ausstellung gehören Meisterwerke des Abstrakten Expressionismus, die das Brooklyn Museum, das Museum of Modern Art und das Whitney Museum of American Art in New York zur Verfügung gestellt haben. With the exhibition Poetry of Light, the Museum Frieder Burda is celebrating one of the great pioneers of Abstract Expressionism: the painter, sculptor and photographer Richard Pousette-Dart (1916–1992). Around 140 works from six decades provide an opulent overview of the multifaceted oeuvre of one of the most important artists of American postwar abstraction. The exhibition Poetry of Light is a collaboration with the Richard Pousette-Dart Foundation in New York and the largest and most extensive show devoted to this important player in American post-war abstraction outside the US. The focus on painting is complemented by a carefully curated selection of sculptures, objects, drawings, and photographs. Among the many highlights of the exhibition are masterpieces of Abstract Expressionism which are made available by the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York..
