I wanted to show you what we found on the gearbox we rebuilt for you last year. The unit got extremely hot, so hot that the bearing cage broke apart and the rollers actually melted. The component shrank onto the shaft, and we had to cut it off to remove it. From what I can see, this looks like an oil failure. Without proper lubrication, it overheated and destroyed the bearings, which caused the gearbox to fail. We haven’t fully checked the second unit yet, but I’ll inspect it more closely and test it on Monday to see what’s happening, especially since you mentioned it’s moving a bit. We installed temporary shims before, so I’ll check the OD and bearing sizes to make sure everything is right. I’ll put together a quote and follow up with you on Monday after I finish the checks.
