The dynamic duo of Marietta QB Harrison Bailey and TE Arik Gilbert powered the No. 5 Blue Devils to a 17-9 victory over No. 1 ranked Lowndes in the Class 7A championship game, securing the school’s first state title since 1967. Marietta led 17-0 at halftime and held on to the win in a defensive battle. Tennessee signee Bailey threw for 271 yards, while LSU/Georgia signee Gilbert caught 11 passes for 146 yards. Kimani Vidal contributed five receptions for 34 yards and ran 15 times for 67 yards and two touchdowns. The Blue Devils sealed the game when Peter Warrick intercepted a pass from sophomore and future Miami signee Jacurri Brown at the 2-yard line, then ran out the final 4:42. LSU commit BJ Ojulari led the defense with seven tackles, including two for loss.
