Our top story this morning... Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has again refused to apologize for his country′s sexual enslavement of women from Korea, China and other nations before and during World War II. During a press conference with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington on Tuesday, when asked if he was willing to take the chance to apologize for Japan′s wartime sexual slavery, Abe continued to use a vague expression to steer away from admitting its wrongdoings. The prime minister responded by saying that he was deeply pained for the suffering that the victims had to go through, characterizing the women as victims of ″human trafficking″ to avoid using the term ″sexual slavery.″ The statement echoed remarks he made a day before during a lecture at Harvard University, despite growing demands from Korea and international community to admit its wartime atrocities. Ahead of Abe′s speech to the joint session of the U.S. Congress on Wednesday, surviving sexual slavery victims, including Lee Yong-soo , along with other civic group members held a rally at the U.S. Capitol, criticizing Abe′s distorted perception of history while demanding an official apology.
