Hello Friends, welcome to my Youtube channel - Nisarg Yatri. I was in Kumta, a town located in Uttar Kannada District of Coastal Karnataka. On the occasion of Rathasaptami, the Car festival / Ratha Yatra / Teru is organized in Kumta every year. It was my privilege to be part of this Teru this year. In the month of February, this Car Festival is organized near Shri Venkatraman Devasthan. This four-storeyed Ratha is made up of Big wooden wheels followed by a wooden circular structure at the top. Red, White, Blue, Green, and yellow-colored flags are added to the circular structure as a part of the decoration. Also, coconuts, fruits, and flower garlands are used for decoration purposes. This year (2021), Kumta Teru was organized on 19th February. Lord Balaji is worshipped here in this four-storeyed ratha and then using big threads this ratha is carried and people threw banana over this ratha which is the traditional way of devotees here to offer banana to Lord Balaji. Also, you can find details of this famous temple in kumta - Shri Venkatraman Devasthan which is located in heart of the town. Thousands of devotees are present for this yatra and food in form of prasad is also arranged for devotees. We Indians are very fortunate when it comes to our rich heritage and culture.
