(Watch my playlist: https://bit.ly/4hUJYTV). In this DJEMILA, ALGERIA video, I take you on a vibrant journey through ALGERIA'S BEST ROMAN RUINS. Djemila City is different from Algeria's other UNESCO Roman Cities (like Tipaza and Timgad) in that it was built into and around mountains, on uneven land, whereas most ancient Roman Cities are flat. Djemila features a market, forum, temples, basilicas, and other Roman structures, showcasing Roman architecture adapted to a mountainous location. My favorite was the Temple of Septimius Severus with its grand stone staircase. Here I was treated to some beautiful traditional music. For the most part, I was able to walk ALONE through Djemila, but I did meet a few lovely Algerian People who were very kind and welcoming, just like I've found all throughout the country.
