In this session, Clemens will explore the process and outcomes of developing the Neo4j Visualization Library (NVL), which addresses the challenge of providing a cohesive graph visualization experience while accommodating the diverse requirements of various Neo4j products and teams. Integrating Bloom's visualization solution with other Neo4j tools revealed the need for a consistent and flexible graph visualization solution. In response, NVL was developed with a focus on an API architecture that enables both flexibility and consistency. Collaboration with invested teams involved brainstorming sessions and prototyping. The approach adopted a layered toolkit, comprising a flexible base library and a high-level React wrapper for a common look and feel. The outcome, the Neo4j Visualization Library NVL, balances flexibility and consistency in graph visualization across Neo4j tools and applications. By separating and exposing different library layers, NVL offers a customizable yet standardized solution. The session will provide code examples showcasing the library's capabilities.
