Naoki Hayashi is the happiest person I have ever met. He is a master of Gyotaku, the traditional Japanese art of fish printing - originally used by fisherman to document their catches. There were no cameras back in old timey days. Naoki's lifetime passion of fishing, his deep appreciation of nature and love of storytelling shines through in his work. His studio is hidden away in the heart of Kaneohe and is packed to da gills with history, his artwork and memorabilia. Naoki's greatest joy comes from preserving memories for people to treasure for a lifetime. His knowledge of fish, how they look and behave in their environment, elevate his abilities to capture the experience of the catch in his prints. He uses the energy from Hawaii's nature and shares it with the world. He describes his art as Hawaiian Gyotaku. And he told me the eye of the fish is the window to the spirit. The painting of the eye is the last step in his creation...and then the fish starts to swim. Today a fisherman/fireman, Chris Johnson, has brought in his first Ulua catch. Some fisherman wait all their life for this one catch! Sit back and enjoy Naoki's storytelling and gyotaku from start to finish. @HawaiiVideoPro @kbaypropertiesllc5715 @noheagallery @TakeoGyotaku @gyotakuhawaii250 @ROANOKE01 @gyotakunaokistyle2400 #gyotaku #printing #storytelling #hawaiifishing #ulua #artist #americandreamtv #hawaiilife #fishart #japanese
