In this video I am going to show how to make an Old Fashion Buttermilk Pie. This recipe dates back to 1938. According to my mother this recipe was given to my grandparents by my grandfathers aunt back around the time they were married back in 1938. It makes a good Buttermilk Pie. Recipe, pie mixture Ingredients Pie Crust 2 cups Buttermilk 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 cup sugar 3 egg yolks 2 tablespoons butter (we used unsalted) 3 tablespoons flour pinch of salt Meringue Ingredients, 3 egg whites 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter 3 tablespoons sugar Recipe. In a mixing bowl add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of buttermilk and 3 tablespoons of flour. Stir this mixture up well. Over another mixing bowl take 3 eggs and separate egg yolk from the egg white. Put your egg yolks in the pie mixture and let the egg whites go into the separate mixing bowl and set aside for now. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan. Once you have your egg yolks in the pie mixture add 1 more cup of buttermilk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons of melted butter and stir mixture up well. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. When oven is ready place pie in oven and let cook for 1 hour. Your pie should be done and now it's time to make your meringue. Meringue, Get your mixing bowl with the three egg whites and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter. We will also need 3 tablespoons of sugar. We will add the sugar slowly once we start making a meringue. Using a mixer start beating the egg whites until they start forming a meringue. Then start adding your sugar slowly while still mixing. Slowly add all the sugar. Once your meringue starts to form and hold peaks it should be ready. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread your meringue over your pie. When oven is ready place back into oven and cook for 10 minutes. This should brown your meringue up nicely. Let pie cool for a while, slice up and enjoy a good Old Fashion Buttermilk Pie. Hope you like it. #Pellet Grill# Outdoor Cooking #TexasHistory #Texas #history #deer hunting #river #bridge #fishing #fish #outdoors #lake #hunting #nature #naturelovers #naturephotography #drone #dronevideo #cooking #natural #rvlife #rv #campingplatz
