Today no rebuild storys as its actually always the same moore or less,...but unusual rebuilds I wil show in the future ofcourse! The Taifun engines, most of them made by Hans Hoernlein, were always special to me.Very wel made and nice lookers.Soon I wil run a 2,5 Meteor and a 3,5 Super. Both are early non colored Diesel Taifuns. This engine is also rebuilded for Jose,a kind modeller and engine collector from Spain.. I am sure,he wil love him! The Hobby was never a real screamer, but was mean to be a excelent starter and a hussel free& ruged engine for the boys, who were new to the "Hobby"...I guess thats why the name :-) There were 2 types of the MKII. The early model have the "teapot" intake ventury, and the last, final version has a round intake,as this showen model. The 0.10 HP was not a real powerhouse but stil moore than the JENA 1cc from 2 weeks ago, what I can compare... "only" 0.08 HP.The scavening is very similar to COX. 2 exhaust port,2 transfer ports in "crossflow" configuration. But it seem to be a very docile and dependabel engine. Was still used many years after the diesel has vanished from the modelingscene as a " Hilfsmotor" or puller motor for gliders.Fuel consumption was very modest and was ideal for a auxiluary engine for a glider. But as you see it starts and run very wel. The prop was a APC 8x4. Graupner recomend for Hobby's 7x4 for C/L.. and for run in and free flight a 8x4 ....And this engine need still to free up,as the piston is new...So the output shoud increase a bit even moore in the next runs.Shame I made no pictures when I start with it..It was really very bad...But as you see with some new parts it is almost as new again! Soon moore VERY RARE engines....Promised! :-) Stay tuned if your hobby is also the same "strange hobby"as my.. Till the next time!
