This fifth question comes from Inglewood, Colorado. The Book of Genesis (2:7) says that man was formed from the dust of the ground, but Genesis 3:14 says that the serpent shall eat the dust for all of the days of its life. However, snakes do not literally eat dust. So the question asks for Rev. Hicks to clarify and explain what this means. Sister Hicks reveals that, as the Bible says, God created man from the lifeless dust. The dust, in fact, symbolizes death, but God was able to breath a spirit and soul of life into Adam. The dust that the serpent eats is, in fact, the spiritual death that results from man when he commits three sins of his body: lust, greed, and gluttony. The serpent feeds on this type of death and sin in humanity. But through Jesus Christ, those that believe and trust in Him can be liberated.
