Head pressing is an indicator of a serious medical condition and an animal exhibiting this behavior should be seen by a veterinarian immediately. This is video taken of my sweet kitty Smidgin (9/28/97 - 3/27/2012) In this video she is head pressing in a couple of ways, often pressing her head against the top of the cage. She had slowly developed issues that made us suspect she had a brain tumor. We tried high doses of steroids and other meds but nothing helped. It became clear she was in pain and we had run out of options, so her wonderful veterinarian came to my home and gave her a gentle passing. I had a necropsy done to find out exactly what was going on and a brain tumor was confirmed. It was shocking to see how large the tumor was. It was clear that we did the right thing euthanizing her and ending the pain she was in. Smidgin lived a life of sweetness. Never a hiss, a growl, or a swat came from her in her entire life and she was nothing but very loving and a seeker of cuddles and attention. I really miss her.
