The San Elijo Lagoon was quickly opened to tidal flow just before a major storm came through. Many more months of dredging need to happen, but for now the water level has dropped significantly and the tides can ebb and flow once again. One of the best sights was a female Long-tailed Duck (found by Yve Martin) that has been seen by many from throughout San Diego. This is a rare species in our area, far from its normal wintering grounds. Other birds making an appearance in this video include regularly seen American Coots, Belted Kingfishers, Snowy Egrest, and Pied-billed and Eared Grebes.
