In February 2020, when I was traveling in Myanmar, I visited the oldest and only surviving veteran of the Chinese Expeditionary Force. In August of the same year, I was traveling in Pakistan and learned the news of the death of the old man. It is a pity that this old hero failed to realize his wish to return to China until his death. I often think that when the country is in crisis, some people have stepped forward, but when the country is rich, those who have paid blood and sweat for the country have not died well. Why is this? What kind of civilization would such a truth exist? Where is the law? Like me, many people have been brainwashed by various false histories and false politics since childhood, but after decades, I am glad that I can still maintain independent thinking.
