What exactly is Endometriosis? A Top Gynaecologist explains! Endometriosis is a painful condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, leading to chronic pain, heavy periods, and fertility issues. In this video, we’ll explain what endometriosis is, its symptoms, how it’s diagnosed, and the treatment options available. Whether you or a loved one is affected, understanding endometriosis is the first step toward better management and relief. Mr Moboloadale Ojutiku is a Consultant Gynaecologist who has been working at Basildon University Hospital since 2000. He provides a broad range of obstetric and gynaecological services to treat fibroids, ovarian cysts, polyps, heavy menstrual bleeding, menopause, pelvic pain and urinary incontinence. He qualified from Medicine in 1985 from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He then moved to the UK where he undertook his training in the East Midlands, London and the South East Deaneries. He then worked as a Research Fellow specialising in Genito-Urinary Medicine at St Mary's Hospital in 1991. Later on in 1994, he joined the South East Thames training scheme which led to him becoming a Senior Registrar at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital. Furthermore, he completed a postgraduate degree in Prenatal Genetics and Foetal Medicine at the University of London and was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Risk Management from Loughborough University. He has been the Clinic Lead for Risk Management in Women's Service at Mid & South Essex Hospitals Group. He is presently the Clinical Lead for Perineal Care and Postpartum birth injuries. Previously held positions include Clinical Lead in Gynaecology, Undergraduate Tutor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Course Organiser Essex and London Perineal Surgical Skill Workshop for Midwives.
