Thermal Tuning is a simple and effective diagnostic procedure in Thermography. It increases image contrast by using different color pallets and limiting allocation of available colors to region of interest. It also highlights certain temperature zone with contrasting color. Thermal tuning makes detecting anomalies visually easier. Pallets, isotherm and level and span are the basic tools for thermal tuning. They have no influence on temperature measurement as modifications are limited to visual display of the images which is completely reversible without much effort. Composing images is the first important step of measurement techniques as there will be no return if mistakes are done at this stage. Then thermal tuning is the first analysis step to be considered before using more complicated software tools for detecting of anomalies. It is the fourth part of the Thermography series for novice thermographers. It explains the applications of thermal tuning tools with practical examples.
