Protesters outside Kathmandu Parliament premises after Nepal Government banned social media. Massive protests led by Generation Z demonstrators erupted in Kathmandu on Monday. Protestors vandalizing the parliament gate, police fired dozens of rounds to push the protesters. While Govt faces corruption allegations, recent ban on several major social media platforms triggered outburst. Several people injured as the protests turned violent after clash erupted between police and demonstrators. Protest turning violent prompted authorities to extend curfew across key parts of capital: The Kathmandu Post. What began as peaceful march escalated when protesters broke through barricades and entered restricted zones near Parliament. Police responded with water cannons, teargas, and rubber bullets after demonstrators threw tree branches and water bottles. Some protesters reportedly managing to enter the Parliament compound amid anti-government slogans. New curfew includes several high-security zones, such as President's residence ‘Shital Niwas’. VP residence in Lainchaur, Maharajgunj, Singha Durbar, PM’s residence in Baluwatar also under curfew.
