PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE FOR KATENTONG MUSIC MINIMALIST

Percussion Ensemble for Katentong (Music Minimalist) is a percussion ensemble composition that uses a minimalist music system approach. This musical composition was created with the aim of simulating the form of Alu Katentong's artistic playing into western music with a percussion ensemble music format, both compositionally and as an instrument. This composition departs from the phenomenon of manumbuak padi (pounding rice) which eventually becomes a classical musical art with rhythm nuances. This Alu Katentong art is only found in Nagari Padang Laweh, Sungai Tarab District, Tanah Datar Regency. This Alu Katentong art has interlocking rhythm patterns or interlocking rhythm patterns with each other. The method of creating this work is divided into three stages. The first stage of exploration on the material composition. Both experiments try to experiment with creating a form of simulation of instruments and materials. The three embodiments of work. This composition consists of three parts, namely part I (manumbuak padi), part II (manumbuak katentong), part III (sitotak). Conclusion This work creates a form of traditional classical music playing Alu katentong into a western musical form with a minimalist percussion ensemble format.
