This series of two videos details the activities of the Vancouver House Building Team 2010. Working with the well-established Canadian NGO (non-governmental organization) Tabitha, our team of thirty-six police officers and members of the community visited Cambodia in November, 2010 to build twenty houses for residents of a small village about 150 km north of Phnom Penh. Part 1 gives the viewer some background on Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge era, and the Tabitha organization. It also documents the team's visits to Tuol Sleng (a notorious Khmer Rouge interrogation centre) and the national Killing Fields monument and mass grave site, located south of Phnom Penh. Part 2 details the team's activities in Meanok Lech as we complete these new dwellings for the families in the village.
