Welcome to the video of West Newton Quakers meeting for worship for January 11, 2026. Lynn Peery Mills provided musical ministry playing "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "God of Grace and God of Glory" -- "Grant us wisdom, Grant us courage/for the facing of this hour." Brent Bill offered vocal ministry regarding how he had been troubled by the recent ICE shootings, including the one of Renee Good by Jonathan Ross. He shared Micah 6:6-8 about doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God and how we are called to be witnesses in the face of violence. He quoted Elie Wiesel and Quaker William Dewberry on being witnesses and then shared his person struggle in how he was to be a witness. He said he had to keep in mind Quaker testimonies -- there is that of God in every person (including protestors and ICE agents), that integrity matters in what he says and posts about this and other issues, and that he must operate from a silent center that is listening to God -- and then act. He concluded with, "We, collectively and individually, must bear witness to injustice and inhumanity. What do you say?" West Newton Quakers meet for worship every Sunday at 9:30 am Eastern Time. Our meeting is on-line and all are welcome. If you'd like to attend, write us at westnewtonquakers1@gmail.com
