Out of the six players that played all 9 ABA seasons, Byron Beck might’ve been the least talked about, but that was probably how he liked it. He was a virtual unknown coming from the University of Denver, and he was the first signee of the new ABA franchise in town. Byron’s game was built on hustle and skill, as though he wasn’t blessed with elite speed or athleticism, he was constantly moving, whether it was cutting to the basket or setting a slip screen, he rarely stayed still for long. He was comfortable with his back to the basket, using a lethal sweeping hook shot to score inside. He could knock it down from 15 feet and it wasn’t smart to foul him, as he shot over 80% from the line for his career. Byron wasn’t someone to take over a game on a frequent basis, but he was a hard worker, doing all the little things that didn’t show up on the box score. He was a tenacious rebounder, and while he didn’t block shots, he could hold his own against the best big men in the league. Byron was a Denver lifer, even making 2 All-Star Games in the process, as he was certainly someone that represented the Mile High City well. https://www.basketball-reference.com/...
