Despite earmarked of parmanent dumping site at Namchik, the town still falls short of proper waste disposal and management system as well as full-time functional urban development office, staffs and a sanitation vehicle to dispose off the stokepiled waste dumped in and around the township areas. Though waste management rules in India are based on the principles of "sustainable development", "precaution" and "polluter pays," Kharsang administration is yet to streamlined and regulates the commercial establishments to act in an environmentally responsible and accountable for the waste littered. The government of India under its Swacch Bharat Mission- a cleanliness campaign, is spending crores of rupees only to keep the urban centres and rural areas clean and environmental friendly. Two distinctive agencies responsible for delivering of this cleanliness campaign are the department of Urban development & housing and the Public health engineering department. Many urban centres as well as rural areas accross the country is witnessing gradual changes. However, the newly established urban centres like Kharsang/Miao are yet to achieve the milestone of cleanliness. It would remain a distance dream until and unless every individuals adopt a basic civic sense.
