Living Environment Project - Planting Trees to Get Shady

Trees cool and shade our homes and buildings, reduce our energy bills, increase our property values and provide habitat for wildlife. Trees are our best way of adapting to the impacts of climate change. In the next episode of our Living Environment video series, meet Alana, who received a free tree for her property, as part of our Get Shady tree giveaway. The Get Shady Project was established as an incentive program to increase tree planting on private land and help us achieve our ambitious target to increase PAE’s tree canopy cover by 35% by 2050. In 2022 we provided 150 property owners in our hottest suburbs with a free advanced tree to plant on their land. In 2023 we have doubled the number of trees available, and the initiative has been so popular that there are only a limited number of trees remaining.
