Waterfront campsites and loads of tracks to explore at Blowering Dam!

Located about 10 minutes outside of Tumut, NSW Blowering offers kilometres of accessible water frontage on both sides of the dam. We opted for the western banks that are at the foot of a long ridgeline that is covered in forestry trails. It makes for the perfect mix of primo campsites, and 4x4 tracks to explore. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and setup camp at on old ruins that is exposed by the lower water levels. On Saturday we head into the hills looking for some pins that we had on our maps that were step sections of track. We had barely left camp and we were recovering one of the vehicles from a deep boggy creek crossing. We had another winch later on a steep powdery climb. Lunch was at the top of the ridge before we dropped back down in search of a campsite. We scored a spot right on the waters edge and had a long afternoon around the fire. Turned out the wood we had gathered was full of huntsman - BIG huntsman. Shane cooked up a big tandoori chicken feed and we rounded out the night with the old massive spider in the dessert tin trick!!!
