She is the first woman and second sitting President of India to undertake this sacred pilgrimage. Arrival at Pamba: President Murmu arrived at Pamba around 11:00 AM in a special convoy. She symbolically washed her feet in the Pampa river before proceeding to offer prayers at the nearby Ganapati temple. Irumudikkettu Ritual: At the Kettunira Mandapam, the temple priest filled the sacred bundle, or 'irumudikkettu', for the President, who was dressed in a black saree. Her ADC, PSO, and son-in-law also received their sacred bundles. Journey to Sannidhanam: The President, along with her team, boarded special four-wheel-drive vehicles that carried them along the 4.5 km Swami Ayyappan Road to Sannidhanam. They then climbed the 18 holy steps to reach the shrine. Darshan at the Shrine: At Sannidhanam, President Murmu offered prayers to Lord Ayyappa with the irumudikkettu on her head. She was received by state Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan and Travancore Devaswom Board president P S Prasanth. The temple Tantri, Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru, welcomed her with a 'poorna kumbha'. This visit underscores President Murmu's deep respect for India's spiritual traditions and her commitment to engaging with diverse cultural practices.
