She then tries to assess her injuries, which include a wound to the throat, before slumping to the ground about ten seconds later. Other people seated nearby, in the footage, do not immediately react to the stabbing, perhaps oblivious to what has happened. However, bystanders did eventually kneel over Ms Zarutska and try to help her, according to local media, performing CPR. One man took off his shirt and tried to dress her wounds. All to no avail; she died on the train, succumbing to her injuries. Another passenger ran to alert the train driver, who stopped the vehicle, as Brown loitered near one of the doors. Nearby passengers kept their distance, having seen the bloody knife in his hand. He was arrested as he exited the train, and taken to hospital with minor injuries. Brown has since been charged with first-degree murder, a state-level crime. The FBI has also announced that he’ll face federal charges. The death penalty could be imposed.
