But I have noticed that there are times when connection to my WiFi network just isn't what it should be. And I think I figured out what the issue is. So if you've noticed your Google Pixel has begun to avoid the WiFi network Even though you know the signal should be good enough Then you'll definitely want to turn this feature off as well. Unstable WiFi So, the feature in question is called Adaptive Connectivity and in this video we're going to talk about why it's not always a good idea to have this feature enabled. But first, we should talk about what Adaptive Connectivity actually does. The feature page itself tells us that enabling this feature can extend the battery life of your device while also improving its performance by allowing the service to automatically manage your network connections. Under the hood, Adaptive Connectivity will monitor the signal of your WiFi and Cellular Data connection. If the signal is getting low on one of them. . .the service will check the other. . .and then it decides if switching to another network protocol is the best path forward. For example, if you're walking away from your home, the app will see WiFi signals dropping. . .and cellular signals improving. So it will switch you from the WiFi network over to your cellular network. Because in many situations. . .this is actually going to improve the battery life and performance of your phone. And it worth the other way, too. If your cellular connection is getting weaker. . .but the app notices your WiFi network is getting better. Then it'll switch you over to the WiFi network without you needing to touch the settings. And hopefully you can see how this can be a recipe for disaster. Not only can this cause connection issues in general. . .because you're switching from one network to another. . . But in some instances, it's just wasting the effort because the other network isn't really performing better. That's why I recommend Google Pixel owners disable this IF they are frequently noticing network connection issues.
